Persian kanun Hotel California

You are probably familiar with at least a couple of versions of Hotel California. If you've seen The Big Lebowski, you know the Gypsy Kings version. And there's the, um, Eagles. This is Farhad Besharati, playing the kanun, a traditional Persian instrument.

Gregorian chant Comfortably Numb

Many ukuleles doing some MGMT

This is almost enough for me to open an iTunes account, since I can't seem to find anywhere else to get music from the Ooks of Hazzard.

I'm not sure I'd call this bluegrass, but I don't know what else to call it when this many ukuleles get together. There is something, I don't know, inspiring about the sound that they produce - wonderful and rich and just plain musical.

Native American drumming Mighty Mouse

The Black Lodge Singers are a drumming group whose members are part of the Blackfeet tribe. They've recorded twenty albums that are mostly traditional - but two of 'em are kids albums.

First, check out a bit of their more traditional work. This is "Crow Hop" from their Enter The Circle-Pow Wow Songs album.

Pretty damn groovy, right?

Now this is their version of "Mighty Mouse" (which you can find on Kid's Pow-Wow Songs).

Dig it.
